Ceramics

From floor tiles to kitchen countertops to mosaic tiles: ceramic tiles combine quality with the latest technology. Available in various design options, they can be used flexibly both indoors and outdoors.

Aesthetics and Functionality

Modern ceramic tiles consist of a refined combination of natural minerals, mixed and compacted according to the original principle of clay firing. The components clay minerals, feldspar, and quartz give the product its hardness and strength. The added minerals from glass and silica give it its chemical stability, and oxides provide the countless color variations.

With a specially developed particle sintering technology, the homogeneous mass is pressed with up to 25,000 tons of pressure per m² and fired at up to 1,300° Celsius, depending on the manufacturer, to obtain an ultra-compact glass-ceramic composite with a closed surface.

Ceramic tiles are known for their hardness, resistance to moisture and chemicals, and their diverse design possibilities. These tiles are used in bathrooms, kitchens, and other architectural applications to meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.

Our Ceramic Range

To offer the widest possible selection of designs and colors, we source ceramic tiles from various manufacturers in Spain and Italy.

DKTN by Cosentino

One of the most popular products on the market is called DKTN. Through a sophisticated compaction process, the Spanish manufacturer achieves zero porosity. DKTN tiles are UV-resistant and thus suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Neolith

The Spanish company Neolith specializes exclusively in the production of ceramic tiles. The eponymous product is suitable for all applications, from kitchen countertops to high-rise facades.

Laminam

Since the early 2000s, the Italian manufacturer has been developing ceramic tiles and slabs that meet the highest standards in terms of design and durability. The company is headquartered in Fiorano Modenese, located in the heart of the "Valley of Ceramics."

Infinity

The ceramic manufacturer Infinity is part of Gruppo Concorde, Italy's largest manufacturer of floor and wall coverings and a benchmark for product design in the industry for over 50 years. Infinity's collection is characterized by brilliant natural stone imitations.

Resistant and Abrasion-Resistant

Ceramic is a particularly hard material. This quality makes ceramic tiles ideal for countertops or floors that are heavily used. Thanks to the smooth surface and high abrasion resistance, ceramic retains its surface integrity even with frequent use.

Water-Repellent and Insensitive

Ceramic is naturally non-porous, meaning it does not absorb any liquids. This makes ceramic tiles ideal for applications in areas with high humidity, such as bathrooms and kitchens. Additionally, ceramic is easy to maintain, mold-resistant, and resistant to most commercial cleaning agents.

Temperature and UV Resistant

Ceramic tiles for the kitchen withstand high temperatures. Additionally, ceramic is particularly color-stable. Thanks to its resistance to UV rays, the colors do not fade even with sun exposure, even when used outdoors.

Interesting facts about ceramics

Is ceramic durable?

Ceramic is known for its excellent resistance to various everyday stresses. Neither moisture, heat, nor UV rays can harm the hard material. Due to its insensitivity to moisture, ceramic is less prone to mold formation compared to other materials.

Is ceramic sustainable?

Ceramic products are often very durable and can last for many years without losing their structural or aesthetic properties. This contributes to reducing the need for replacements and thus to resource efficiency.

However, the sustainability of ceramics strongly depends on the entire value chain, from raw material extraction to production, use, and disposal. Pizrog relies on certified manufacturers who are committed to sustainable practices and adhere to standards to minimize their environmental impact.

Consumers can also contribute by choosing high-quality, durable products and treating them with care to maximize their lifespan.

Is ceramic more expensive than natural stone?

The initial price of ceramics is higher due to high-tech production compared to mineral composite and natural stone. The costs of natural stone can vary greatly depending on the type and rarity of the stone. Rare or exotic natural stones are generally more expensive than common varieties. Similarly, the costs of ceramics also vary – depending on the brand, quality, and aesthetics.

Is natural stone better than ceramic?

It is important to consider individual needs, preferences, and the area of application to make the right choice between ceramic and natural stone. Some people prefer the natural character of natural stone, while others appreciate the versatility and consistency of ceramics. Costs should be considered as part of a comprehensive evaluation of properties, aesthetics, and maintenance requirements.
